    Description

    Preowned. Unknown origin/history. This item was purchased at an estate sale containing numerous memorabilia and photographs from the deceased’s trip to Africa. This piece is evocative of Shona carving patterns, and the base resembles Zulu carvings. However, I am unable to verify its age or maker. The wood has dried over time, leading to two splits emanating from the heartwood. These cracks appear stable, as they stop at the pith. I have not attempted any conditioning of the wood or crack repair. There is additional missing chip of wood on the corner. Measures approximately 9” long, 5” tall, 4” across.
