THIS IS AN AUTHENTIC RARE ESTATE FIND. THIS CAME FROM A MAN (ORIGINALLY FROM SWITZERLAND) AND HIS WIFE WHO TRAVELED THE WORLD AND PURCHASED THIS HANDMADE DRUM WHILE TOURING AFRICA MANY YEARS AGO. WE WERE TOLD THAT THIS IS CALLED A STUMPY DUN AND IS USUALLY ABOUT 3/4TH THE STANDARD HEIGHT BUT THAT THEY PACK A PUNCH! ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE MORE THAN ONE AND DIFFERENT SIZES AS THE SIZE CHANGES THE SOUND. Twenaboa:
a medium density timber which is quicker to carve than the hardwoods; makes for great entry level djembes with all the key sounds.
A dunun is a rope-tuned cylindrical drum with a rawhide skin at both ends, most commonly cow or goat, perfect for giving duns their powerful voices.
Balancing thickness to each drum, a good dun set will have a rich sound range across the drum sizes.
